State Chief Minister Vijay, keeping the vision problems of the elderly in mind, gave free eyeglasses to a poor elderly woman, demonstrating the government's commitment to health care.
State Chief Minister Shri Vijay, in a recent rural development program, as part of a special initiative focusing on elderly health services, provided free spectacles to an elderly woman. This program was implemented as part of the government's "Elderly Vision Care" scheme, amid a rising number of seniors in the state suffering from vision-related problems. In this initiative, the Chief Minister allocated a dedicated budget, in collaboration with health service providers, to supply necessary medicines, tests, and vision aid devices (spectacles, lenses) to improve the living standards of the elderly.
The elderly woman's family reported that, thanks to the spectacles provided by the Chief Minister, she has regained independence in her daily activities. Previously, she struggled with reading, walking, and performing everyday tasks due to visual impairment. Now, with clear vision, she is ready to read books with her grandchildren and shop independently at the rural market.
The government described this measure as a significant milestone in elderly health protection and is prepared to, in the next phase, expand vision testing centers in rural areas, introduce mobile I-Aspect units, and implement a vision-related insurance scheme. These actions will not only enhance the quality of life for seniors but also play a crucial role in strengthening social cohesion and achieving equity in health services.
