Telangana EAGLE Force Busts Inter-State Synthetic Drug Network, Suspected Lab Found in Maharashtra

Hyderabad: Telangana’s EAGLE Force has busted an alleged inter-state synthetic drug manufacturing and trafficking network after uncovering a suspected clandestine laboratory operating under the guise of a poultry farm in Maharashtra.

According to the anti-narcotics unit, the case first came to light on August 8, when Bibi Nagar Police in Telangana intercepted a four-wheeler travelling towards Nagpur. During the operation, police seized 27.2 kg of mephedrone and 56.98 kg of acetone and apprehended three people.

A case was registered under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, and the accused were remanded to judicial custody.

Suspected drug laboratory uncovered in Maharashtra

On October 17, investigators identified a suspected drug manufacturing facility in Maregaon village in Maharashtra’s Gondia district. Officials also arrested Jairaj Krishna Shetty, who was allegedly supplying propionyl chloride, a precursor chemical used in drug manufacturing, EAGLE Force said.

The facility was reportedly operating under the cover of a poultry farm, allegedly concealing its suspected drug manufacturing activities.

11 accused arrested or in custody

According to EAGLE Force, a total of 11 accused have been arrested or are in custody in connection with the alleged network, while 13 others are reportedly absconding. Some of the accused are said to be repeat offenders.

The investigation has revealed links between manufacturing facilities in Telangana and a suspected clandestine unit in Maharashtra. Maharashtra Police have registered a separate case in connection with the investigation.

Probe underway to trace financial links

Investigators are continuing efforts to identify chemical supply chains, trace financial transactions and locate assets allegedly linked to the network. Authorities are also working to dismantle the suspected drug trafficking operation and apprehend the remaining accused.
